05Dec23 – Tuesday – 8:45am Pick Up – Upgraded to an 8-hour Tour
.
.
.
1st Stop – Selaron Stairways – Located on an unassuming backstreet of Rio de Janeiro, a few blocks from Cinelandia metro station, tucked away behind bars, restaurants, and homes, lies the unexpected explosion of color and creativity known as the Selaron Stairs (or Escadaria Selaron in Portuguese). This fanciful creation sprung directly from the imagination of Chilean Jorge Selaron, as a “tribute to the Brazilian people” in the words of the artist. The visit will last approx. 30 minutes.
.
.
2nd Stop – Santa Teresa – This captivating hillside neighborhood overlooks downtown Rio, and highlights the many facets the city has to offer in addition to beachside antics. The area is dotted with 19th-century mansions – some crumbling wrecks, others carefully preserved in their former glory – which serves as a reminder of the Santa Teresa economic boom. In the 1800s, it was mostly unreachable, with a few farms and a forest refuge for escaped slaves, but the coffee industry’s golden days brought rich industrialists to the hills, along with their boastful mansions. Nowadays, it’s an artistic retreat, a very bohemian and popular tourist area, with many bars, restaurants, art galleries, and craft stores.
The visit will last approx. 45 minutes.
3rd Stop – Sugarloaf Mountains – From Praia Vermelha, the visitants take the first tram links to the Urca hill, and from there, a second tram takes them to the top of the Sugar Loaf hill, 396 meters above sea level. Inaugurated in 1912, the little tram of the Sugarloaf was the first Brazilian cable car and the third in the world, linking Urca Hill to Sugarloaf Mountain. The peak of the two mountains reveals the gorgeous landscapes of the city, including Botafogo Bay, Copacabana Beach, and the entrance of Guanabara Bay. The visit will last approx.2 hours.
4th Stop – Welcome BBQ Lunch at Fogo de Chão Botafogo, which is one of the best Steakhouses in Brazil. It´s a beautiful restaurant located in Botafogo Cove, with an amazing view of Sugarloaf Mountain and the waterway. Phenomenal Salad Bar with such a huge variety of veggies, and cold and hot dishes. The charcoal grill roasted meat keeps coming until you say no, and you should definitely save space for the Argentinian cuts such as Chorizo and Ancho beef, and the Brazilian Picanha. This genuine Brazilian Lunch experience will have a duration of approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Fogo de Chão Welcome BBQ Dinner includes:
Starters of cheese bread, crispy polenta, and sliced sausages
Salads & Hot Dishes Buffet with more than 40 items – https://fogodechao. com/menu/market-table/
Side dishes served on the table – https://fogodechao. com/menu/side-dishes/

CONFIRMED: Fogo de Chão Lunch has been upgraded and will include:

5th Stop – Around 5:10pm –
Ipanema Beach (Arpoador) – Its sands mark the history of Bossa Nova music. Ipanema is
among the favorite beaches of Cariocas for its charm and relaxation, world-renowned for the song “Girl from Ipanema”, by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais. The beach is a meeting point for young residents and enchanted tourists. Ipanema has one of the highest square ft prices in the City of Rio and in Brazil. The beach is used for the practice of various sports, in addition to being the stage for outdoor concerts. Cariocas and tourists usually sit on its sands, in the late afternoon, to chat and applaud the magnificent sunset. On Sundays, the lanes along the waterfront are closed until 6 pm for vehicles and free for the leisure of Cariocas. Walking distance to Copacabana Beach. Passengers will have approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at Leisure.

1st Stop – Cinelandia Square – One of the most important squares in the city. It doesn’t have the same fame anymore as it had a hundred years ago when it was called the Broadway of Rio, but historically it has had a great impact on the development of the city. In the colonial period, the square was simply the area that housed the “Ajuda Convent” built for women in 1750. The most significant buildings in the area that remain in the square today are the Teatro Municipal (Municipal Theater), Biblioteca Nacional (Brazilian National Library), Palacio Pedro Ernesto (City Hall), Tribunal Superior (Higher Court), and the nearby Museu Nacional de Bela Artes (The National Museum of Fine Arts). Most of the buildings’ façades and interiors reflect the French Beaux-Arts architectural style, a design that was considered symbolic of Rio de Janeiro’s modernization. The visit will last approx. 15 minutes.
2nd Stop – 4th Stop – Christ Statue – An art deco statue located on top of Corcovado Hill, 709 meters above sea level, in Tijuca National Park, overlooking most of Rio de Janeiro, granting the most beautiful views of the city. In 2007, it was informally selected as one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Pre-Scheduled Train Tickets going up the Hill. Skip the line! The visit will last approx. 2 hours.
It´s very important all passengers are together in the line so they can all catch the same return train, otherwise, it will cause an inconvenient delay.
4th Stop – Copacabana Beach – Brazil´s most famous beach, Copacabana is located in the heart of the luxurious Zona Sul (South Zone) neighborhood. The beach is marked by Postos, or lifeguard stands, that offer changing rooms and restrooms for a small fee. Copacabana’s 2.5-mile stretch of sand runs from Posto 1 to Posto 6, where you’ll find a peninsula that houses the Historical Museum of the Army and Copacabana Fort.
Brimming with authentic eats, lavish accommodations, and the beautiful Avenida Atlantica sideway made of mosaic tiles, Copacabana Beach boasts much more than powdery sands. Recent visitors raved about the beach and said the people-watching is some of the best in the world. Passengers will have approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes at Leisure.
Return to the Port at 11:40am
When visiting Rio, spending some time on both Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches is a must in order to experience and feel the real Rio de Janeiro culture and lifestyle. There are plenty of Oceanfront Kiosks serving all types of Drinks and Snacks, you’ll be able to dive in the ocean, or simply walk the promenade for some people-watching!
Very Important, please read!!!
