It is the biggest Brazilian Holiday when the entire country parties for 5 days from Saturday until Ash Wednesday. In 2027, Carnival will be held from the 6th until the 10th of February.

2027 Brazil Carnival – Rio Sambadrome Parade
Carnival is the biggest Brazilian holiday, and it´s in Rio de Janeiro, where the largest Carnival celebrations are held in the world. It’s filled with music, parades, street parties, and people having the time of their lives. The Carnival in Brazil runs from Saturday until Ash-Wednesday. That’s the official length, but many Brazilians turn it into a 10-day holiday. Approximately 2 million tourists are expected in town every year during the 5-day festivities.
The Rio Carnival Samba Schools Parade will be the Highlight of your Vacation! It is organized as a championship dispute. A fierce 5-day competition, divided into 2 Groups:
1 – Golden Series or Access Group – Sort of a Second Division of Samba Schools that parade every year on Friday and Saturday.
2 – Special Group – It´s the Elite of Rio Samba Schools, with 12 Samba Schools parading on Sunday (7Feb), Monday (8Feb), and Tuesday (9Feb) of Carnival, 4 Samba Schools per Night.
3 – Champions Parade – After the Ash Wednesday Results, all the Top 6 Groups will Parade again on Saturday (13Feb) for the Champions Parade!
The Special Group & Champions Parades start at 10pm and it goes until around 4-5am. Each of the six Samba Groups has 70 minutes to parade. Samba Schools lose one-tenth per minute exceeded on the Parade, to be deducted from its final score.
Surprises abound in the parades of the samba schools, which keep secrets to be revealed only at the promenade. However, all Samba Schools need to follow basic rules within a regulation that gives points to decide who will receive the Special Group big championship title.
